A career of service to the children and families living in his community earned CCRC San Bernardino Regional Director James Moses a special honor. The Local Champion Award is awarded annually by First 5 San Bernardino and this year, Moses was among the recipients.
The ceremony was hosted earlier in November and included Moses, Assembly Majority Leader Emeritus Eloise Gómez Reyes, County Superintendent of Schools Ted Alejandre, and Dr. Marti Baum of Loma Linda University.
“I am deeply honored to be viewed as a Local Champion by an organization who is leading the charge as the champion of children birth through age 5 in our county,” said Moses. “It is an award that I share with hundreds of CCRC staff and partners who have helped make a difference in the lives of children and families in our San Bernardino County communities.”
James started with CCRC in 2013 after nearly three decades serving the San Bernardino County community in various capacities. As a lifelong San Bernardino County resident, James says he’s passionate about expanding access to critically needed services for the most vulnerable families.
His outstanding work in social justice and early childhood education caught the attention last year of Senator Connie Leyva, who honored him as one of her Terrific 20 of Senate District 20. That award was given to those who exhibit “excellence for social justice, environmental justice, education, law enforcement, first responders, and health care.”
First 5 San Bernardino, a longtime partner of CCRC, congratulated awardees sharing that the award recognizes “our Local Champion Award for your incredible collaborative partnership over the past many years and for your genuine and never wavering commitment to early childhood health and development, child care resources, and family and community supports for our zero to 5 population and their families, to improve children’s outcomes in school and in life.”
He shared that he is grateful for the partnership between our two agencies.
“The relationship between First 5 SB and CCRC is vitally important,” he explained. “The collaboration and partnership we have built has been an incredible blessing for CCRC, community partners and children and families the San Bernardino County community.”
In 2022, Moses was nominated for Man of the Year in the 47th Assembly District.
Moses shared that the work that earned him this recognition is a personal commitment.
“I am a servant at heart, and serving children and families is something I believe my Lord has called me to. In San Bernardino County, where we are seeing more and more of our neighbors struggling, I am blessed to be working for an organization that is so committed to helping children and families,” he said.
