The cost of child care in California is climbing ever higher and Child Care Resource Center has been letting families know that help paying for child care is available. Many families in the state speak Spanish as their primary language so CCRC shared the news with Univision, which broadcasts in Spanish to a large audience.
Especially during Hispanic Heritage Month, CCRC is proud to have on staff many Spanish speakers who support our goals of reaching and impacting more families in our community. In the interviews, which were conducted in Spanish, CCRC Community Partnership Specialist Lucy Ford and Governmental Relations Specialist Yvonne Perez discussed the high cost of child care and resources that exist for families.
“Muchas familias califican para estos servicios”, dijo Lucy Ford del CCRC. “La ayuda para el cuidado infantil es un programa muy grande y tenemos muchos fondos”.
Lucy shared that many families qualify for the child care assistance and said there is a lot of funding available.
“It’s important for us to share information about affordable child care options in Spanish so more Spanish-speaking families can take advantage of these resources,” said Yvonne about the importance of sharing this information in different languages. “Growing up in a Spanish-speaking household myself, my parents didn’t know about the child care options that were available to them. By sharing this information in Spanish, parents might feel more comfortable reaching out for assistance and feel relief knowing there are child care options available to them.”
As the article explains, funds can support eligible families with child care during nontraditional hours, while parents are working, seeking work, or in school. Overnight care, as well as weekend care, is also available.
Lucy explained that the application is easy to complete and requires minimal documentation on the part of parents. Find out if you are eligible for child care financial assistance today.
A CCRC representative is available to help families complete the application and/or answer questions in English or Spanish.
