Child care providers have a critical impact on the way children develop, connect with adults, and form an understanding of the world around them.
If you or someone you know has a passion for children and has ever considered a career in child care, Child Care Resource Center (CCRC) is here to advise, train and prepare prospective care providers for this essential work.
CCRC offers ongoing training and support through a quality improvement program called the Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP), which prepares prospective and licensed family child care providers to offer high-quality service.
Through a virtual orientation, prospective providers will receive a series of free workshops, assistance in understanding licensing requirements, technical support and mentoring, and virtual networking with other child care providers. Participants in the CCIP program can benefit from the support and guidance throughout the licensing process and will learn how to use the Early Care and Education Workforce Registry as a tool to track and expand professional development.
This statewide initiative aims to increase the number of care providers and improve the quality of licensed family child care homes in California. CCIP works through local Child Care Resource and Referral agencies like CCRC to recruit, train, and retain licensed family child care providers.
More than 7,800 new licensed family child care homes have been opened since 2007 thanks to CCIP recruitment efforts. That effort has added over 63,000 spaces for children, according to Zero to Three, an early child development advocate. Since 2011, CCIP has provided over 33,000 hours of training and over 188,000 hours of technical assistance to providers.
Starting Feb. 23, 3-hour-long trainings will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All meeting dates and descriptions have been added to the CCRC website calendar. Register for this free session by creating a profile on www.caregistry.com, click “training calendar” and search for “Child Care Resource Center.” Participants must take part in all trainings included in each registration period.
CCIP is offered in all of our service areas. Anyone in our service area can attend the current training cohort, but technical assistance comes from each particular office/service area.
