Privacy Policy

Effective as of October 1, 2023 (“Effective Date”).

Welcome to www.ccrcca.org, (“Site”), owned and operated by Child Care Resource Center, Inc. (“CCRC”, “us”, “we”, “our”), a California nonprofit corporation. CCRC provides individuals and families various resources and programs to help them find child care, development, and education services for their children as well as helps connect parents to child care providers (collectively, “Services”).  We take your privacy seriously and comply with applicable law and regulations regarding personal information collected from users of the Site (“user(s), “you”, “yourself”, “your”).

The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to inform you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information when you use or visit the Site, and the choices you have associated with that information.  Personal information is any information about you which can be used to identify you. This includes information about you as a person (such as name, address, and date of birth), your devices, payment details, and even information about how you use a website or online service. All CCRC employees and volunteers are bound to respect each individual’s rights of privacy. All personal information given to an employee or volunteer by any member of the community will be regarded as confidential. By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and to be bound by our User Terms and Conditions. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meaning as in our User Terms and Conditions. Information Collection and Use

We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Site and Services.

CCRC uses the collected data to:

  • provide and maintain our Site and Services,
  • notify you about changes to our Site and Services,
  • allow you to participate in interactive features of our Site and Services when you choose to do so,
  • provide customer support,
  • gather analysis or valuable information so that we can improve our Site and Services,
  • monitor the usage of our Site and Services,
  • detect, prevent and address technical issues, and/or
  • provide you with news, special offers, donation opportunities, and general information about other goods, services, and events which we offer that are similar to those that you have already purchased or inquired about, unless you have opted not to receive such information.

Types of Data Collected

While using the Site, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. This information includes, but is not limited to:

  • Email address,
  • First name and last name,
  • Child care requirement metrics,
  • Case numbers,
  • Phone number,
  • Full address (including, but not limited to, State, County, ZIP/Postal code, City),
  • Transaction information if you make a donation or purchase, and
  • Live Chat conversations.

We may use this information to carry out Services you requested, contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials, and other information that may be of interest to you. You may opt out of receiving any, or all, of these communications from us by using the unsubscribe link or following instructions provided in any email we send, or by contacting us using the contact information provided at the end of this Privacy Policy.

We also collect information when you use the Site relating to your web site browser, network, device, and other similar information (“usage data”). This information is collected to ensure you have a consistent experience when using our Site and Services, to ensure our content is displayed properly, and to improve the overall quality of our Site and Services. When serving ads, this information is also used to ensure advertisements are properly displayed and served to you. Usage data collected related to your browser, network, and device information includes:

  • Device ID,
  • Operating System,
  • Query Terms,
  • Browser Type,
  • Browser Version,
  • Network Type,
  • IP Address, and/or
  • Other similar information.

Location Data

We do not use precise geolocation unless you give us permission to do so. However, we and our service providers use and store information about your location to provide features of our Site, improve and customize our Site and Services, and to provide you with marketing and advertisements we believe would be relevant to you.

You can enable or disable location services when you use our Site at any time through your device and browser settings.

Additional Information Collected

Eligibility Application

If you choose to apply for our Eligibility List (“E-List”) through the Site, we will also ask for additional information such as parents’ and child(ren)’s gender, birthdate, and ethnicity. We will also ask for parents’ income information. This information is used to carry out the services requested by you and for legitimate business purposes in accordance with this Privacy Policy. This information provided by you is not used for marketing purposes.

Child Care Referrals

Our Child Care Referral database refers you to potential providers. The information you enter is used to populate the referral list and for other legitimate business proposes in accordance with this Privacy Policy. This information is not used for marketing purposes.

NoHo Parent or Provider Portal

Information you voluntarily submit to the NoHo Parent or Provider Portal is used to carry out the service you requested and for legitimate business purposes in accordance with this Privacy Policy. This information provided by you is not used for marketing purposes.

Live Chat

From time to time, we may enable a live chat feature (“Live Chat”) administered by a trusted service provider on the Site. By participating in the Live Chat, you consent to the recording and sharing of your conversation for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, in accordance with applicable law, including for marketing and analytics. If you do not consent to the recording or sharing of your conversation as outlined in this section, please do not use the Live Chat feature. The service provider’s Privacy Policy will apply to any information you provide during the Live Chat. This Privacy Policy also applies for any information we may receive from your use of the Live Chat or the service provider. At the time of writing this Privacy Policy, our Live Chat feature is provided by Zoom. You can access their Privacy Policy by visiting https://explore.zoom.us/en/privacy/.

Please note, our Live Chat service provider may change at any time. You should check this policy from time to time for updated Live Chat service provider information.

Tracking & Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our Site and store certain information.

Cookies are files with small amounts of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device. Tracking technologies also used are pixels, beacons, tags, and scripts to collect and track information, and to improve and analyze our Site and Services.

You can instruct your browser to refuse cookies or tracking technologies, or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may have trouble using some portions of the Site or our Services.

Examples of Cookies we use:

  • Session Cookies. We use Session Cookies to operate the Site.
  • Preference Cookies. We use Preference Cookies to remember your preferences and various settings.
  • Security Cookies. We use Security Cookies for security purposes.
  • Advertising Cookies. Advertising Cookies are used to display advertisements that may be relevant to you and your interests.
Videos on our Site

From time to time, CCRC may embed a video (“Video”) from a third-party website. Use of this video feature is being recorded and shared with third parties. We use tracking technologies throughout our Site, including Meta pixels, and your viewing information of an embedded Video is subject to being collected, shared, and stored in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the privacy policy of our service providers, like Meta or Google. Use of this feature constitutes consent to such action, including but not limited to consent required by Penal Code sections 632.* and 631. If you do not consent, do not watch Videos on the Site.

How Your Information is Shared

Generally

We share your personal information as necessary to provide the Site, and to provide and carry out the Services, and for the purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy. We may also share your personal information, including usage data and location data, and other information we have collected about you in accordance with this Privacy Policy, with trusted third-parties to allow third-parties to deliver advertising, marketing, or other content through the Site to provide you with related offers. We may also share aggregate data for marketing and analytics purposes.

Trusted Third-Party Service Providers

We employ trusted third-party companies and individuals (“service providers”), in compliance with applicable law, to facilitate our Site and some of our Services, to provide the Site and Services on our behalf, to perform Site-related services, and for marketing or analytics purposes. 

These third-parties have access to your personal information only to perform these tasks on our behalf, and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

SMS Messaging

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Donations

We use third-party service providers to process your donation information. These providers are obligated to keep your information confidential, and can only use your information for reasons necessary or related to carrying out the task or perform their services. These third-parties provide us with transaction amounts and details such as name and address, but do not share your credit card information with us. We then use that information for our own internal processes listed at the beginning of this policy, including reaching out to you for upcoming donation opportunities. If you would like to be removed from our communications, including donation or contribution opportunities, please email us at [email protected] or call us at 1-866-67-4KIDS.

At the time of your donation, you have the option to make your donation anonymous. If you chose not to make your donation anonymous, we will publish your name in our annual report(s) to show our gratitude and thanks.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to monitor and analyze the use of the Site. Google Analytics is a web analytics tool and website offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of the Site. This data is shared with other Google websites. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.

You can opt-out of having your activity on the Site made available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity.

Behavioral Remarketing

CCRC uses remarketing services to advertise on third-party websites to you after you have visited our Site. We and our third-party service providers use cookies to inform, optimize, and display ads based on your past visits to the Site.

Google Ads

Google Ads’ remarketing service is provided by Google Inc.

You can opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising, and customize the Google Display Network ads, by visiting the Google Ads Settings page: http://www.google.com/settings/ads.

Google also recommends installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on – https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout – for your web browser. Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on provides visitors with the ability to prevent their data from being collected and used by Google Analytics.

Facebook

Facebook’s remarketing service is provided by Meta Platforms Inc.

From time to time, we may also provide ads via Twitter, LinkedIn, or other social media platforms. You can control your ad preferences by logging in to the respective service and adjusting your ad settings.

Payments

From time to time, we may provide paid products and/or services within the Site. We also accept donations on the Site. We use third-party services for payment and donation processing (e.g. payment processors). Information collected and stored by us when you make a donation or purchase includes your full name, email address, address, and donation or purchase amount.

We will not store or collect your payment card details. That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors, whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy. These payment processors adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of payment information.

Business Transactions

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your personal information may be transferred. We will provide notice before your personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

Disclosure of Law Enforcement

Under certain circumstances, CCRC may be required to disclose your personal information by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or a government agency).

CCRC may disclose your personal information in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

  • Comply with a legal obligation,
  • Protect and defend the rights or property of CCRC,
  • Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Site or Services,
  • Protect the personal safety of users of the Site or Services or the public, and/or
  • Protect against legal liability.

Retention of Data

CCRC will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your personal information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

CCRC will also retain usage data for internal analysis purposes. Usage data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our Service, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.

Transfer of Data

Your personal information may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, county, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ than those from your jurisdiction.

The personal information we collect is stored and/or processed in the United States, or where we or our partners, affiliates, and third-party providers maintain facilities.

The countries to which we store, process, or transfer your personal information may not have the same data protection laws as the country in which you initially provided the information. If we transfer your personal information to third-parties in other countries: (i) we will perform those transfers in accordance with the requirements of applicable law; and (ii) we will protect the transferred personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.

Security of Data

The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, like using a secured connection through HTTPS using 256-bit encryption technology, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

“Do Not Track” or other Opt-Out Preference Signals

We do not support Do Not Track (“DNT”) or other such opt-out preference signals. Do Not Track is a preference you can set in your web browser to inform websites that you do not want to be tracked.

You can enable or disable Do Not Track by visiting the Preferences or Settings page of your web browser. You can control your cookie technology settings through your browser or device settings. For more information, refer the Tracking & Cookies section of this policy.

Our Services may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third- party link, you will be directed to that third-party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.

We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Children’s Privacy

Personal data collected by CCRC is provided by the parents of children who may be under the age of thirteen (13). CCRC does not knowingly collect information directly from children under thirteen (13) years of age.

If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us by emailing [email protected] with “Privacy Policy Request” in the subject line. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

Additional Disclosures for California Compliance

Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, California Civil Code Section 1798.83, if you are a California resident and your business relationship with us is mainly for personal, family, or household purposes, you may ask us about the information we release to third-party organizations for their direct marketing purposes.

To make such a request, please contact us via email at [email protected] with “Shine the Light Law Request” in the subject line. You may make this type of request once every calendar year. We will email you a list of categories of personal information we disclosed to other organizations for their marketing purposes in the last calendar year, along with their names and addresses. Not all personal information shared in this way is covered by Section 1798.83 of the California Civil Code.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes via email and/or a prominent notice on our Site within a reasonable time before the change becomes effective and update the “Effective Date” at the top of this Privacy Policy.

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
