Babies quickly outgrow their clothing and that expense can be difficult for many families to afford. But Baby2Baby, a long-time nonprofit partner to Child Care Resource Center, has helped us supply thousands of families with clothing, blankets, food, books, toys and personal hygiene items during the pandemic and for many years prior.
“Baby2Baby’s mission to provide basic essentials to children living in poverty and CCRC’s commitment to providing holistic support to those families go hand and hand,” says Baby2Baby Los Angeles Co-CEO Norah Weinstein. “Since 2016, our partnership with CCRC has given us the opportunity to put critical items directly into the hands of children and families living in Northern Los Angeles County including the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley and San Fernando Valley.”
CCRC was one of nearly 500 organizations that Baby2Baby partnered with in 2020. Throughout last year, the nonprofit reports it provided five times the amount of donations it usually distributes in a whole year. Many of those items were donated to CCRC during the winter months to support our holiday book and toy drive, where we gave more than 2,000 local families a holiday meal, books and toys.
“Every year we know the holidays are going to be a particularly difficult time of year for the families we serve and, in 2020, we knew that the need had only grown much higher due to the pandemic,” Weinstein says. “Supporting CCRC’s holiday drive was extremely important for us and we were so happy to be able to collaborate and provide joy and relief during this unprecedented time.”
That month, Baby2Baby donated to CCRC:
• 27,191 articles of clothing
• 2,988 blankets
• 3,210 toys
• 4,000 hygiene items
Since 2012, Baby2Baby has distributed over 100 million items to children in homeless shelters, domestic violence programs, foster care, hospitals and underserved schools. “Today we are serving 200,000 children living in poverty in Los Angeles and hundreds of thousands more across the country, as well as children who have lost everything in the wake of disaster,” says Baby2Baby Co-CEO Kelly Sawyer Patricof. “We’ve sent cribs, blankets, bottles, shampoo and towels to children left homeless by hurricanes, floods and fires as well as other emergency situations.”
