CCRC’s Home Visiting program is a free service that supports pregnant woman and families of children 0-5 years old. To participate in our Home Visiting program, families must live within the one of the 14 Best Start community boundaries of Antelope and San Fernando Valley, which includes Pacoima, Panorama City, Palmdale and Lancaster. Applicants can be referred to us through the Welcome Baby program, the Department of Public Health/Department of Public Social Services, other local community agencies, or self-referred.
Our Home Visiting program utilizes the Parents As Teachers (PAT) curriculum. Its mission is to provide the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life. Each enrolled family can receive up to two home visits each month for up to five years from a certified Parent Educator who provides support and information that is specific to your child’s age. Topics include:
- Parent-child activities that will help your baby grow
- What to expect from your child as they get older and ready for school
- Bonding, attachment, and breastfeeding support
- Help to reach your personal and family goals
- Health & wellness screenings for your child
- Referrals and resources in your community
Families will also have an opportunity to meet with other parents once a month during Group Connections. Offered in English and Spanish, our Group Connections provides a safe place for families to receive information about resources in their community, talk about their child’s development, parenting ideas and concerns, while connecting with other families through fun activities!
