Whether you celebrate Halloween or Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), the month of October is a time to be festive and get in the spirit of the holiday. California health officials are recommending against trick-or-treat due to COVID-19 but this fun, safe alternative gives you and your children a night to remember without the sugar.
CCRC is hosting its first ever virtual paint night with a Dia de Los Muertos theme. Participants will receive all the supplies needed to design their own sugar skull, which is a symbol that uses a vibrantly painted and decorated skull to honor the dead and their spiritual journey. Sugar skull art reflects the traditional Mexican art style of big happy smiles, colorful paint, sparkly tinsel and glittery adornments. This holiday is not about sadness but rather celebrating the lives of loved ones.
We’re offering three different levels of participation:
- For $15, you and your family will receive the Zoom link without supplies
- It’s $25 for a single artist with the Zoom link and supplies
- And $75 for a family of four with the Zoom link and supplies
Supply kits include a canvas, paints, brushes, and cup for cleaning your brushes.

Funds raised throughout the year, as well as significant donations from our community, benefit our Holiday Book and Toy Drive, which allows us to give local children books and toys during the holiday season. Last year, we distributed over 10,000 books and toys to families in our community. If you can’t attend, please consider making an online donation.
