all to a great startl I'm thrilled to inform you that the Department of Social
‘ 5-,_ Services is lunding Building a Bridge to High Quality Child Care for Foster
’ ‘ Children (Bridge Program), an emergency child care payment lor children
. ‘ in foster care.
I We know one of the main barriers for lamilies to accept a loster child
\ is the lack of access to child care. In addition to lunding the child care cost,
i foster children will have access to a quality early care
‘ environment, which is vital for their brain development, school readiness
and luture success.
The Bridge Program will provide child care services to 970 children in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties and
will consists of three components:
‘I. Eligible families may receive a child care payment to help cover the cost of child care, it they can't host a loster
child due to the need lor child care.
2. A child care navigator will assist parents with finding a child care provider and securing child care financial
assistance - if eligible.
3. Child care providers will receive trauma-informed core training as well as coaching and strategies for working
with children in loster care.
