Fall Activity Homemade
As a child care provider, you may care for multiple children
between the ages of 0-5 and it may be challenging to find an
activity that engages and educates them all. We have the perfect activity
for you – a homemade orchestra! The power of music transcends age and is something everyone in class can enjoy. From start to finish, creating and playing your own instruments is an activity that is both educational and fun.
Although the above tip is
geared towards children 2-3,
experts have proven that music and math are highly intertwined. By understanding beat, rhythm, and scales, children are learning how to divide, create fractions, and recognize patterns. It seems that music wires a child's brain to help him better understand life.
Dancing Bells 0-2
This is a great instrument for your little ones as a child’s natural kicks and wiggles contributes to the overall sound of the “orchestra”.
Here’s what you need: bells, ribbon, hot glue gun, hook and eye, and scissors
1. Cut the ribbon to a suitable length.
2. Arrange the bells in an order but make sure they don’t touch. If they touch, they don’t seem to make a noise.
3. Using the hot glue gun, fasten your bells into place.
4. Using the hot glue gun, secure the hook and eye.
This type of peer interaction and communication encourages teamwork as children collaborate to create a crescendo or an accelerando. If a child is playing his instrument too loudly or speeding up too quickly, he'll need to adjust. It's important for children to know and understand their individual part in a larger ensemble.
Enjoy your homemade orchestra!
