 2019-2020 Highlights
 Opening Doors Parenting Curriculum
We implemented the Learning Genie App to support teacher-parent communication. All grantee teaching staff and family advocates received Chromebooks, headsets, keyboards and monitors to support children and families in distance learning.
Project Parenthood
CCRC is the lead agency in Northern Los Angeles County for First 5 LA Help Me Grow, which works with community partners and families to improve the Early Identification and Intervention services to children birth to age five.
I had concerns about my baby when we started
the program because he wasn’t moving much and he was nine months old. The educator gave me activities to do with him to support his development and now he’s walking! I’m very thankful for the support and guidance I got from the program.
- Head Start parent
I had just lost my husband in July and was being laid off from work while pregnant with my sixth child. I was struggling to provide the basics for my children. CCRC came to my home and dropped off a Chromebook.
Then they came back with food, clothing for my kids, wipes and diapers, cleaning supplies and school supplies. They even brought my kids Christmas gifts. I couldn’t believe it. I’m crying right now. The people at CCRC are so very awesome. This really helps me out so much.

  Representation at
National Conference
At the 37th annual National Head
Start Association’s Parent and Family Engagement Conference in December 2019, five CCRC Policy Council representatives were in attendance. For the first time, the parent members of our council received a National Head Start Policy Council pin.
    Attendance at Parent
Workshops
Every year, we offer parents of enrolled children the opportunity to attend workshops and trainings we organize using results of a Parent Interest Survey that contains 44 workshop options. 395 parents attended trainings on positive parenting, stress management, and challenging behaviors.

Comprehensive Support to Young Children & Families
Head Start Positively Impacts Children
Head Start now includes over 25 locations in the San Fernando and Antelope Valley, serving over 3,000 children through comprehensive programs that support education, nutrition and physical health. Through Head Start, 91 percent of enrolled children had a physical exam and 87 percent had a dental exam.
A partnership with CCRC’s Creative Services team produced a comprehensive marketing plan that utilized social media and a billboard campaign to reach families most in need, including those of children with disabilities, homeless and other vulnerable children.
When the pandemic began, Head Start teachers tailored their lesson plans for remote learning over Zoom. Engaging children through a mix of virtual learning and home activity kits designed for parent use achieved CCRC’s goal of partnering with parents to enhance and diversify learning opportunities.
An independent external audit found no deficiencies in our financial oversight, expenditures, or program operations. The most recent Office of Head Start onsite CLASS® review was completed in February of 2017.
