This information has been useful to the Registry office at the Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles. The Outreach Coordinator and Registry Manager have been attending professional development (e.g., California Association of Educational of Young Children Annual Conference, California Alternative Payment Programs Association / Resource and Referral Joint Conference) and community events (e.g., 2016 Karen Kaye Awards Ceremony) attended by ECE professionals in order to continue their educational efforts in informing ECE professionals about the Registry and assisting those who wish to enroll in the Registry. The Gateways program has also taken an active approach to facilitate participants’ engagement with the Registry by including information about the Registry and an opportunity to self-activate Registry accounts during computer and technology trainings offered by the Gateways program. A component of the training included ensuring all participants have an e-mail account, registration and activation on the Registry, if so desired. During the 2015-2016 program year 61% of training participants had activated their Registry account after participating in the computer and technology training, compared to 25% before the training (36% increase).
During this program year, leadership from the Gateways program has been working closely with the LA Registry Office to integrate tracking of the Gateways Passport into the Registry. This collaboration has successfully resulted in the integration of the Gateways Passport into the Registry. As demonstrated by the number of providers coached and trained through Gateways across Los Angeles County, the integration of the Gateways Passport into the Registry has the potential to reach more ECE professionals. Since 2011, participants’ training and Gateways Passport achievement was tracked in ProDev+, the web-based database used to track administrative data for Gateways. The ProDev+ database is purely administrative with ECE professionals playing no role in the tracking of their trainings and Passports. With the integration of the Gateways Passport into the Registry, participants will be able to play a more active role in monitoring their progress towards achieving a Passport. For many ECE professionals this may be seen as an incentive and may propel more ECE professionals to enter
