child care referrals?
CCRC offers parents an opportunity to learn what types of child care are available, what to look for in a child care setting, and their rights as parents to pursue adequate and safe care. Specifically, when it comes to finding one child care provider, CCRC PROVIDES CHILD CARE REFERRALS NOT RECOMMENDATIONS.
Parents receive child care referrals in 1 of 2 ways:
o They can speak to one of CCRC’s Resource and Referral Specialists in person or over the phone,
OR
o Visit our automated referral system on CCRC’s website.
When requesting a child care referral, parents answer a series of questions including their preferred location for care, age of the child and time that care is needed, preferred language, any special needs requirements, and transportation options. Based on the information that is entered, referrals are automatically generated from our extensive database of licensed child care providers.
These referrals share the following information with parents: provider’s first name, cross streets, phone number, license number and capacity, days and hours of care, ages served, website (if available), and the city where the provider lives.
CCRC does not release any personal information regarding child care providers (other than for referral purposes as described above) or the families we serve. All information received from providers and parents remains confidential unless it involves the immediate health or safety of a child.
CCRC reserves the right not to refer to child care providers when:
o There is documentation of abuse or neglect.
o Service or place of care has been documented as unsafe and conditions have not been corrected. o A facility is not licensed and is not exempt from licensing requirements.
Tips for child care providers:
o If your information has changed, make sure to let us know so your provider profile is accurate and up to date.
o Consider parent’s commute time when choosing hours of operations. o Consider offering pickup services.
If you have any questions or need more information, please contact CCRC’s Resource & Referral department at (909) 384-8000 or (760) 245-0770.
