We are pleased to announce Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County (CAPSBC) is donating 2,000 books to support Child Care Resource Center’s (CCRC) literacy campaign. CAPSBC and CCRC are working together to promote literacy and early learning in San Bernardino County!
Board Chairwoman for Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County (CAPSBC), Dr. Margaret Hill said, “We are proud of the work of Child Care Resource Center (CCRC) in supporting children with the wonderful annual Family Play Date event that provides resources to assist low-income families. We are pleased to donate 2,000 brand new children’s books as the ‘What a Difference a BOOK Makes’ event sponsor. Throughout San Bernardino County, agencies like CAPSBC and CCRC strive to help our communities by laying the groundwork for the future success of families and children. Reading together with your kids is critically important to positive child development and education success.”
On Saturday, April 7th CCRC will host it’s 5th Annual Family Play Day in San Bernardino! This free community event offers early learning childhood activities that are educational and fun. Families will enjoy a reptile exhibit, story time, art & science activities, and local musical performances. Additionally, families will receive a bag of fresh fruits and vegetables (while supplies last) and every child that attends will go home with an age appropriate book thanks to CAPSBC’s literacy sponsorship!
“We have had a long term standing partnership with CAPSBC, in addition to the books, over the years CAPSBC has generously donated a variety of items, including: food, personal hygiene products, diapers, toys, etc. As a result of their support, together we have made a tremendous impact on the lives of families we serve in San Bernardino County”, explained Niki VonHundley, CCRC’s Resource and Referral Supervisor.
CCRC is committed to providing children a bright start. The gift of literacy enables children to gain the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in school and in life. In 2009, CCRC took the pledge to collect and distribute 100,000 children’s books within our 22,500 square mile service area. This year we celebrate the collection of 900,000 books!
