 Family Child Care Provider Apprenticeship
The opportunity to earn a California Child Development Permit is now available to Family Child Care (FCC) Providers and Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) Providers through a new apprenticeship program. To participate, you must be fluent in Spanish, as all training and coursework will be provided in Spanish.
You will improve professional skills, develop a deeper understanding of child development, and work with other FCC providers to earn college credit and a Child Development Teacher Permit. Benefits of the program include monthly coaching and guidance, no-cost college coursework at a convenient location, and tutoring and training to support earning your permit.
Apprentices will receive stipends as professional and academic benchmarks are met.
To be eligible, participants must:
• Be fluent in Spanish.
• Work as an FCC provider (licensed or participating in the CCIP program) or be an FFN provider.
• Be deemed “license eligible” prior to beginning the apprenticeship and have their license by the end
of the apprenticeship.
• Care for at least two children ages 0 to 12.
• Work at least 20 hours per week and must accrue at least 2,000 hours of on-the-job experience.
Registration is now open and space is limited. For additional information, contact Claudia Castillo: [email protected], or call 818-271-6419.
