HEAD START / EARLY HEAD START PREPARING FOR THE FuTuRE
Head Start is a high quality preschool program that works to ensure the healthy development of thousands of local three and four-year old children and their families. The program provides young learners with social and
academic skills as well as necessary medical and dental exams. Children with disabilities are integrated into the learning environment and parents are assisted with locating and utilizing disability services their child may need.
Head Start provides a comprehensive framework to promote school readiness and family engagement. Specific goals are set for both of these areas and, each year, Head Start parents rate their child’s readiness
for Kindergarten on a scale from 1-4. CCRC scored 3.59 for the 2012-13 school year.
