Message
from the President & CEO
Dear Friends,
Welcome to our Summer 2012 issue! I hope your summer is going well and you’re staying cool in this heat! The last couple of months have been busy for me and CCRC’s Executive Team. We successfully closed out our 2011-12 fiscal year and began the 2012-13 fiscal year.
The Governor signed the new State budget but
exercised his right to reduce budget line items with
his “blue pencil” and some child care programs have been
cut once again. The legislature submitted a $92 billion dollar budget with a $788 million reserve. Included was an assumption that voters would pass an $8 billion tax proposition in November. In the upcoming months we will continue to fight for children, parents and the child care community.
In the meantime, we have exciting new opportunities for you! In this issue you will learn about our new Provider Payments visits and a variety of trainings and workshops to meet your early care development needs through Gateways and the California Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP). Some are free and some require a small fee. Sign up today!
Child safety is one of our priorities this summer and I want to remind you to never leave children alone in, or near, a car. Take a minute to review the Matter of MinutesTM campaign and contact us for FREE materials.
Lastly, don’t forget about play time! Play is essential to children’s development. Read our play article and you will never look at play time the same way! Check out our recommended summer reading list and our top 10 favorite outdoor games and enjoy the Ice Cream Pizza recipe to cool off from the heat!
Remember to sign up to receive our e-newsletter by visiting our website, www.ccrcla.org and like us on FaceBook to receive special offers, contests and ideas.
Thanks, Mike
