Early Head Start
Early Head Start is a federally funded community-based program for low-income families to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, enhance the development of very young children (0-3) and to promote healthy family functioning CCRC serves 120 children in the Early Head Start programs in Los Angeles County
Research reveals that Head Start and Early Head Start programs provide educational, economic, health and law enforcement benefits Parents who participate in these programs are found
to have greater quality of life satisfaction, increased confidence
in coping skills, and decreased feelings of anxiety, depression
and sickness Head Start children are at least eight percentage points more likely to have had their immunizations than those children who did not attend preschool, and research suggests that participating in Head Start programs reduces childhood obesity
