Message from the CEO
This annual report is the culmination of 38 years serving children and families It also marks the end of one strategic plan and the beginning of a new one Often a strategic plan is an exercise that ends with a written product which is then ignored Our last strategic plan was wildly successful – so much so that we ended up publishing a small book of our accomplishments We are especially proud because, during the past six years, we weathered one of the worst financial downturns the country has ever seen The state of California eliminated over 100,000 spaces for children in child care and downsized its investment in child care by
$1 billion dollars
At the same time, CCRC continued to grow We accomplished this by creating several different social enterprises that provide much needed services to the community but also generated revenue to the agency WeexpandedtoSanBernardinoCounty WepartneredwiththeChildCare Alliance of Los Angeles to create and provide a number of county wide services including child care provider training, coaching and mentoring, disaster preparedness and business recovery, healthy eating and exercise We launched a new home visitation program funded by First 5 that provides the help parents need during the crucial early years of life
