Establishing a Foundation for Emergency Preparedness
Session 1. Survey respondents increased in knowledge at least somewhat in each of the learning objective areas. The areas of greatest knowledge change (where 100% of survey respondents reported a moderate or large amount of knowledge change or greater than 60% indicated a significant amount of knowledge change) included the following:
 Knowledge of gaps in current preparation and planning systems
 Familiarity with Save the Children and the services they provide
 Knowledge of partners for coordination
This knowledge of partners for coordination is further demonstrated in the answers to the first open- ended question asking participants to list partners for an early childhood education (ECE) Emergency Group (see Table 16).
An area for potential future training and development is in applying their new knowledge, for example “how” to begin to collaborate. When asked their next steps for using the information they learned some intended to collaborate (see
Table 17). However, two of the areas rated lower for knowledge change were My knowledge of opportunities for collaboration, partnerships and My knowledge of what we need to do now to collaborate. The intention is present; however, the knowledge of how to
