Establishing a Foundation for Emergency Preparedness
execute this may be lacking, and staff may need support. This may be due to the relatively new area of disaster preparedness, response, and recover and not yet having established partnerships in this area. Further evidence of the need for assistance in keeping the information alive and acted upon comes in the form of a quote during the working session:
“Well, we have a plan but it hasn’t been modified and I’m not sure we fully understand it.”
Results: Working Session 2: Emergency Response
A total of 19 people attended the second working session in the series and were sent an electronic survey via email 5 business days following the session. Attendance included mostly program staff and management from the R&R programs (12), with a few from Administration/Facilities (2), other program management (1), Human Resources (1), CCALA (1), Research and Evaluation (1), and LACDPH (1).
Survey items were developed based on the learning objectives from the working session. Eleven participants responded to the survey. Figure 14 summarizes the reported knowledge change based on Working Session 2. Survey respondents increased in knowledge at least somewhat in each of the learning objective areas. The areas of greatest knowledge change (where 100% of survey respondents reported a moderate or large amount of knowledge change) included the following:
