   Emergency Preparedness Training
for Child Care Providers
How to Prepare, Respond and Recover
Emergencies or disasters can happen at any time. How you prepare and respond to different types of disasters is important to the safety of the children in your care.
Attend CCRC’s training and together we will develop a plan and provide you with the resources to be prepared for an emergency.
During this training, we will discuss and review:
• Natural and man-made disasters are familiar. We will
be discussing other types of emergencies we now
need to consider such as threats of violence,
hazardous material exposure, and outbreaks of
infectious diseases commonly found in the child care setting.
• The importance of an emergency preparedness plan – the different types of emergencies to consider, who should be involved in the planning, and what should be included.
• How to maintain the information we need for emergencies, such as what information is needed for each child, how to have it readily available, and how to identify important contacts for community resources.
• Family reunification plans and how to build and maintain communication with parents and guardians.
• Supplies, equipment and materials that should be kept in your child care home or facility in order to respond effectively to different emergencies or disasters.
• Psychological recovery – how to address the stress and emotions after a disaster with staff, the children in your care and yourself.
• And what to do after a disaster – what is needed to get your child care up and running after an event.
Why should you attend?
• This training is offered to you at no cost – funding provided by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
You will receive a FREE Toolkit to take home.
