Holiday Book & Toy Drive
Every child deserves a happy holiday and we strive to put books and toys in the hands of as many local children as possible. Thanks to donations from community partners, local residents and members of the Sherman Oaks and Calabasas Chambers of Commerce, we were able to provide 5,000 gifts for participants in our Home Visiting, Family Child Care Home Education Network, Early Head Start, Head Start, and Child Care Partnership programs, and to families who visited our office during the holiday week.
Family Child Care Home Education Network (FCCHEN)
FCCHEN consists of a group of small licensed child care providers who receive ongoing professional development and supportive technical assistance. These home based environments combine the standards of a first-rate child care center with the personal touch and familiarity of a home. Family child care providers benefit through participation in trainings with other local child care professionals. Other services include monthly resource van visits that provide new educational opportunities, training in child assessments that guide a provider as they create a plan for an individual child’s needs, and child care payments on behalf of eligible families who receive financial assistance.

Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP)
CCIP assists aspiring child care providers as they begin their journey toward becoming a licensed child care provider. This community-based network offers a number of resources from assistance with the licensing process to one-on-one support that enhances the quality of child care. Over 65 participants joined us in 2015/16 for regular trainings in quality early learning and business practices, quality assessments, and child care environment improvement grants. Participants also engaged in activities that help establish and build a supportive relationship between providers and their families.
