Summary of Focus Group Findings and Recommendations
Developing Partnerships
Finding: Child care providers discussed the importance of developing partnerships with other entities BEFORE an emergency occurs.
Finding: More FCC providers than center-based providers indicated they received information or would turn to an R&R for emergency response and recovery information.
Finding: R&R agencies have many strengths, and the focus group identified many opportunities for partnering and supporting child care providers in emergency preparedness and response.
Recommendation: Work with child care providers and R&R agencies to identify opportunities for partnerships and to determine how to forge those partnerships.
Recommendation: R&R reach out to center-based providers and clearly delineate what the R&R’s role would be in emergency response.
Recommendation: Develop plans for R&R agencies to support child care providers in emergency preparedness and response.
Recommendation: CCRC has a Coordinator who attends many emergency preparedness trainings, and we will invite her to comment and make suggestions.
Recommendation: Collect stories/interviews for video from providers who experienced various emergencies.
