On June 17th, we celebrated the accomplishments of family child care providers at the 7th annual
Gateways for Early EducatorsTM
Karen Kaye Achievement Award.

This year marks the 7th anniversary we celebrate these accomplishments with the Karen Kaye Award of Achievement. This award honors the memory of Karen Kaye, whose vision paved the way for the development of the Gateways for Early EducatorsTM initiative. Karen Kaye was the Executive Director at Connections For Children, a Resource & Referral agency that serves the Westside and South Bay of Los Angeles.
BACKGROUND
In 2010, Los Angeles County Research & Referral’s launched the Gateways for Early EducatorsTM Passport to track trainings completed by participating Early Care & Education (ECE) professionals. Gateways is designed to provide ECE professionals with the training and professional development knowledge and skills needed to provide high-quality learning experiences for young children in their care.
To date, the training achievements of over 4,200 Early Care and Education professionals have been acknowledged through the Gateways for Early EducatorsTM program.
