 Policy & Advocacy
Our Sacramento office, known by many as The Sandbox,
is a space shared by 11 early childhood organizations. Led by our Government Relations staff, this innovative collective of peers facilitates regular policy and advocacy meetings and convening of groups to do longer term planning for the child care system.
Government Relations Director, Donna Sneeringer was awarded the Elizabeth Hamilton Lowe Child Advocacy Award from Child360. She was recognized for her unwavering commitment to children and their families through her advocacy work.
Dr. Michael Olenick responded to Governor Newsom’s Budget Proposal calling out CCRC’s waiting list of 29,074 families who are desperate for flexible child care support for their 52,231 children so that they can continue to work.
The 2019 Legislative brief highlights the significant economic impact of child care funding, the importance of early experiences to a child’s success and supports for parents and early care professionals.
Data Driven Storytelling
CCRC’s highly skilled and professional Research & Evaluation staff ensure optimal services for families and children by providing internal and external stakeholders with useful tools and information that can be used for program evaluation, forecasting and strategic planning, contract compliance, and advocacy.
2018-2019 Highlights
Families with subsidized child care have better employment, economic, parenting and child outcomes than families waiting for subsidized child care.
In recent years, the number of family child care homes has decreased. As a result, families face more difficulty finding affordable child care for their children.
At the Intersection of Two Systems: Child Welfare and Early Care and Education is a collaborative report that was developed through a unique university/agency/service provider collaboration to strengthen the case for cross system coordination of services. We evaluated access to child care in our service area and the results are distressing - 81% of people live in a Child Care Desert.
In April of 2019, CCRC worked with HMA Community Strategies to lead a mixed-methods research project to understand the needs of families experiencing homelessness with children ages zero to five living in Northern Los Angeles County.
