Head Start Positively Impacts Children
CCRC operates 25+ Head Start locations serving over 3,000 children and their families through comprehensive programs and services to ensure healthy development.
One of Head Start’s primary goals is to get children and parents ready for their kindergarten experience. Many of our preschools are located on LAUSD campuses where children transition to the elementary schools at which they attended Head Start.
Teaching staff stay current on LAUSD requirements and what is expected of kindergarten students. Children are assessed three times per year using the State mandated observation child assessment, Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP-2015). These assessments allow staff to monitor each child’s growth and development throughout the year.

CCRC has been life changing
for my family. The staff is caring, compassionate, and truly want
to help families. They are always willing to listen, and provide you with helpful resources in child development. The programs have been influential in teaching my kids socialization and creativity. The children’s library is always clean and well stocked with interactive toys that my children enjoy playing with. I know that I always have a safe, friendly environment to take my children to, free of charge. My children always look forward to going to CCRC!

 Parent Becomes Teacher
This year a newly hired Teacher Assistant shared that she was once
a Head Start parent. She said she worked with her Family Advocate
to create goals one of which was
to go to school to obtain her child development units. She is now a colleague of the Family Advocate who supported her successful journey.
