Community Overview
The Antelope Valley is located in northern Los Angeles County and constitutes the western tip of the Mojave Desert. This desert ecosystem spans approximately 2,200 square miles with 60% of its residents living in the cities of Palmdale and Lancaster.
It was a busy year in the Palmdale office with 3,500 parents
receiving child care referrals, new partnerships with Best
Start and SEIU, and several amazing events celebrating children and families. Since 2010, we have partnered with the Lancaster JetHawks baseball team to host Laps4Literacy which helps to educate and inform families about literacy. As a cornerstone of our What a Difference a BOOK Makes campaign, we have been able to collect and distribute thousands of children’s books through the Laps event as well as through our newest AV event, Laughs4Literacy.
