Early Learning & Child Care Policy Forum | January 8, 2016
Our inaugural Policy Forum was sponsored by First 5 San Bernardino and took place at California State University, San Bernardino with over 150 attendees. Elected officials, community partners, parents, and child care professionals joined us to discuss issues facing young children and families in our community. Topics included state policy on child care, early childhood priorities, and the benefits of child care investments. Distinguished guests included Dr. Tomás D. Morales (President, CSUSB), Senator Connie Leyva (CA State Senate, District 20), Camille Maben (Executive Director, First 5 California), Karen Scott (Executive Director, First 5 San Bernardino), James Moses (Regional Director, CCRC) and Dr. Michael Olenick (President and CEO, CCRC).
Book, Toy & Resource Library
Community members have a number of resources available to them at our book, toy and resource library. Resources include access to child development books for the aspiring student, age-appropriate toys for children, and select craft materials for child care providers to use in their program for free! We also offer activities for parents and children to take part in including a weekly story time session directly followed by an activity related to the book. For parents looking to gain support in preparing their children for future success, there is the Kaleidoscope Play and Learn program available to parents, caregivers, families, and exempt providers. Those who attend a session in our library go home with resources, information, and activity ideas they can implement at home or with the children in their care.
